We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the Central Engineering team of a leading international engineering and construction organisation in Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer with 7-10+ years' experience to work on large-scale and technically complex projects across the data centre, pharmaceutical, life sciences and industrial sectors. The position offers the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle, from pre-construction and tendering through design development, procurement, construction support and commissioning.

The Role

  • Provide technical mechanical engineering expertise while working closely with clients, consultants, BIM teams, suppliers, subcontractors and construction teams.
  • Lead and support mechanical engineering activities across all project phases.
  • Review mechanical and MEP designs, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Identify scope gaps, technical risks and opportunities for optimisation.
  • Coordinate interfaces between engineering, BIM, procurement and construction teams.
  • Lead and review the design and delivery of HVAC, critical cooling, plumbing and fire protection systems.
  • Support equipment selection, procurement packages and technical assessments.
  • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor technical submissions.
  • Support the procurement of long-lead mechanical equipment.
  • Provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
  • Participate in value engineering, constructability and off-site manufacturing initiatives.
  • Manage RFIs, technical submittals, design records and project documentation.
  • Attend client and consultant meetings and provide technical input.
  • Support and mentor junior engineers.

About You

  • A recognised degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent NFQ Level 8 qualification.
  • 7-10+ years' post-graduate experience.
  • Experience within a contractor, engineering consultancy or similar environment.
  • Strong experience in mechanical building services design and construction support.
  • Previous experience within data centres, pharmaceutical, life sciences or industrial projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, critical cooling, plumbing and fire protection systems.
  • A good understanding of building regulations, statutory requirements and industry standards.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and leading technical meetings.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with platforms such as Revit, Navisworks, ACC/BIM 360 and Bluebeam, or similar.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within demanding project programmes.
  • Chartered Engineer status or progression towards Chartership would be advantageous, as would previous main contractor experience, international project exposure and experience mentoring junior engineers.
