We are currently recruiting for an experienced Systems Engineer to join a major technical programme delivering complex systems solutions within a highly secure and technically advanced environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to work on large-scale, high-impact programmes supporting the design, integration, deployment, and operational performance of complex systems across multidisciplinary technical teams.

The successful candidate will play a critical role throughout the full systems engineering lifecycle, supporting everything from system design and technical documentation through to integration, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and operational support. This role is ideally suited to candidates who thrive within technically demanding environments and enjoy solving complex engineering challenges while working alongside highly skilled technical teams.

The Role

As a Systems Engineer, you will support the development and delivery of complex system solutions, ensuring systems are designed, integrated, tested, and deployed effectively while maintaining high standards of security, resilience, performance, and technical compliance. You will work closely with architects, developers, technical specialists, and project teams to ensure technical solutions are delivered successfully while supporting operational readiness and ongoing system performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer system solutions to meet functional and operational requirements
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, interface definitions, and engineering specifications
  • Support system build, configuration, integration, testing, and deployment activities
  • Integrate infrastructure, software applications, networks, and technical services across complex environments
  • Ensure systems meet security, resilience, compliance, and performance standards
  • Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges
  • Support transition of systems into live operational service environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and system performance problems
  • Support incident management, change management, and service improvement activities
  • Translate business requirements into clear technical solutions and engineering deliverables
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary delivery teams to ensure successful project execution
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

What We're Looking For

To be considered, candidates should have:

  • Proven experience working as a Systems Engineer or similar technical engineering role
  • Strong understanding of the full systems engineering lifecycle from design through to live operational support
  • Experience delivering systems integration across complex technical environments
  • Strong troubleshooting capability and experience resolving complex technical issues
  • Experience working with infrastructure, applications, networks, and integrated technical services
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and engineering specifications
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving capability

Highly Desirable Experience

  • Cloud, hybrid, or distributed systems environments
  • Experience working within secure, regulated, or mission-critical technical environments
  • Exposure to systems engineering frameworks or enterprise architecture methodologies
  • Experience working within Agile, DevOps, or iterative delivery environments
  • Large-scale infrastructure, digital transformation, or complex technology programme experience
