Our client, a leading organisation within the UK defence and aerospace sector, is looking to recruit a Product Review Engineer to support a major military aircraft programme based in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical or Avionics/Electrical Engineer to work at the forefront of aircraft production, providing engineering solutions that directly influence build quality, airworthiness and programme delivery. This is a hands-on engineering role that extends well beyond the office. You'll spend time working closely with production teams on the factory floor and in the hangar, investigating technical issues, resolving non-conformances and ensuring aircraft are delivered safely and efficiently.
The Role
As a Product Review Engineer, you'll be responsible for assessing manufacturing and production issues, carrying out root cause investigations, and developing engineering dispositions for non-conformances. Acting as the key link between design engineering and production, you'll ensure engineering solutions maintain design integrity, regulatory compliance and continued airworthiness. Successful candidates will receive platform-specific training and work towards engineering authorisation for the aircraft programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate manufacturing and production issues affecting aircraft build and assembly.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and develop engineering dispositions for non-conformances (NCRs).
- Produce repair solutions and technical instructions to resolve production issues while maintaining airworthiness and design intent.
- Support the resolution of engineering queries from the production team, providing practical, timely solutions.
- Identify and escalate deviations that could affect product safety, compliance or design integrity.
- Liaise with Design Engineering to resolve complex technical and airworthiness issues.
- Develop engineering solutions covering aircraft structures, mechanical systems, electrical and avionic systems, interiors and functional testing.
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical publications, schematics and supplier data to support engineering decisions.
- Design interim repairs and support structural assessments where required.
- Contribute to product and manufacturing process improvements that enhance quality, efficiency and production performance.
- Represent the engineering function within the production environment, working closely with manufacturing teams, suppliers and programme stakeholders.
- Ensure engineering activities are completed in accordance with regulatory, customer and programme requirements.
About You

- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.
- Strong understanding of aircraft systems.
- Experience in Product Review Engineering, Production Engineering or as an experienced Part 21 Engineer.
- Knowledge of aircraft maintenance, production or modification environments.
- Experience conducting Root Cause Analysis and developing engineering solutions to manufacturing issues.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation and aircraft maintenance data.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage with engineering teams, production personnel and senior stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple engineering tasks.
- Good Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and Word.
- A meticulous approach to engineering quality, compliance and safety.
Desirable Experience
- Aircraft maintenance or operational experience.
- Experience supporting major repairs or structural modifications.
- Previous experience within aircraft fleet maintenance or production programmes.
- Ability to plan engineering activities and monitor performance using meaningful project metrics.
- Current UK Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain the required clearance.
