Role Purpose

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Trainee Transport Coordinator to support the Transport Manager in managing day-to-day transport and logistical operations. In this role, you will act as a pivotal operational link between the production team, subcontractors, external hauliers, and site teams across the UK. You will ensure that structural steel deliveries are dispatched and delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery Planning & Scheduling: Assist with planning and scheduling transport operations in line with production outputs to optimize delivery performance.
  • Real-Time Logistics Monitoring: Track daily deliveries in real time, proactively identifying potential transit delays and resolving operational issues to minimize project disruption.
  • Multi-Department Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact between the Production Office, subcontractors, hauliers, and site teams for all delivery updates, schedules, and transport queries.
  • Delivery Documentation: Prepare and issue accurate delivery notes using company transport software, ensuring crucial details such as load lengths, widths, gross weights, and special instructions are clearly communicated.
  • Transport Records: Maintain accurate transport records and ensure all compliance and operational documentation is completed and distributed promptly.
