We’re seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join a busy industrial manufacturing environment in Barnsley. This is a key role focused on ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of site equipment through effective planned and reactive maintenance.

You’ll be part of a hands-on engineering team where your expertise will directly contribute to improving equipment uptime, reliability, and overall site performance.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems and machinery
  • Responding to breakdowns and diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults
  • Reading and working from electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Maintaining and repairing a range of industrial equipment including:
    • Overhead cranes and jibs
    • Plasma and gas cutting machinery
    • Sawing and drilling equipment
    • Welding and grinding equipment
    • Forklifts and sideloaders
  • Carrying out mechanical maintenance tasks such as bearing and gear changes
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with Health & Safety procedures
  • Working independently and taking ownership of maintenance tasks
  • Supporting subcontractor coordination when required
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives

What we’re looking for:

  • Electrical engineering background within a maintenance environment
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential)
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Experience working with industrial machinery and plant equipment
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices
  • Self-motivated, practical, and proactive approach to work
