We are supporting a leading engineering and manufacturing business that delivers specialist solutions across the aerospace, power generation, rail, and oil & gas sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join the team on an initial 8-month contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly technical electro-mechanical manufacturing environment, supporting both existing production and new product introduction activities while driving Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives across the business.

The Role

Working closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering, you will provide hands-on manufacturing engineering support across production cells, helping improve process efficiency, reduce waste, and support the introduction of new products and manufacturing methods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support production and manufacturing cells with day-to-day engineering activities
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives across the site
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including SOPs, routings, and visual work instructions
  • Implement Standard Work processes and Lean tools such as:
  • 5S
  • Visual Management
  • 7 Wastes
  • One-piece flow / balanced assembly lines
  • Improve manufacturing layouts and production flow
  • Support production data analysis and problem-solving activities
  • Lead improvement projects and CAPEX activities for new processes and product introduction
  • Support NPI activities from release through to production
  • Work with Engineering teams on product changes, obsolescence, and process improvements
  • Participate in FRACAS, MRB, concessions, and change note activities
  • Develop and implement PFMEAs, control plans, and process maps
  • Mentor production cell leaders on manufacturing best practices and process improvements
  • Requirements

    • 5+ years' experience within a manufacturing engineering environment
    • Aerospace or highly regulated industry experience preferred
    • Strong background in electro-mechanical manufacturing
    • Previous experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI)
    • Proven experience implementing Lean Manufacturing methodologies
    • Experience creating and maintaining:
    • SOPs
    • Process maps
    • PFMEAs
    • Control plans
  • Strong understanding of problem-solving methodologies including:
    • 5 Whys
    • Fishbone / Ishikawa
    • 8D
  • Experience working with MRP systems and manufacturing routings
  • Strong technical problem-solving and project management capability
