Our client are a leading engineering and manufacturing business providing specialist solutions across the aerospace, power generation, rail and oil & gas sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join the team on an initial 8-month contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly technical electro-mechanical manufacturing environment, supporting both existing production and new product introduction activities while driving Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives across the business.
Responsibilities
- Support production and manufacturing cells with day-to-day engineering activities
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Create and maintain SOPs, routings, and manufacturing documentation
- Implement Standard Work and Lean tools including 5S, Visual Management, and one-piece flow
- Improve manufacturing layouts and production flow
- Support production data analysis and problem-solving activities
- Lead improvement projects and CAPEX activities
- Support NPI activities from release through to production
- Participate in FRACAS, MRB, concessions, and change note activities
- Develop PFMEAs, control plans, and process maps
- Mentor production teams on manufacturing best practices
Requirements
- 5+ years’ Manufacturing Engineering experience
- Strong electro-mechanical manufacturing background
- Experience within aerospace or other regulated industries preferred
- Previous NPI experience
- Strong Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience
- Experience producing SOPs, PFMEAs, process maps, and control plans
- Experience with MRP systems and manufacturing routings
- Knowledge of 5 Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa, and 8D problem-solving techniques
- Strong technical problem-solving capability
