We're looking for talented Systems Engineers to support a major defence engineering programme focused on complex, software intensive systems and advanced platform integration. Location: Ampthill, Bedfordshire
On-site presence required
Duration: 12 months
Working Pattern: 4-day week (Mon-Thurs) with flexible arrangements
Rate: Competitive per hour (Inside IR35)
Clearance: BPSS to start; SC required later
Eligibility: Sole UK nationals only (due to programme requirements)
Role Overview: You'll join a growing engineering function supporting multiple business areas, including platform systems and special projects. These roles are driven by increased demand across complex system integration activities, including work on next generation turreted systems and other mission critical capabilities. You'll contribute across the full systems engineering lifecycle, from requirements and modelling to verification, validation, and acceptance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage requirements using tools such as DOORS
- Support MBSE activities using tools such as Cameo
- Conduct modelling and simulation (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink)
- Lead and support Verification & Validation activities
- Produce Verification & Acceptance (V&A) statements
- Assess and implement change proposals
- Work with Comms and RF network architectures
- Apply relevant Def-Stan, MIL-STD, and industry best practice
- Understand system level behaviours, constraints, and limitations
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong background in systems engineering within large, complex programmes
- Experience in Command & Control or similar domains is highly advantageous
- Proficiency in modelling, simulation, and MBSE tools
- Understanding of complex systems with significant software components
- Experience in V&V lifecycle activities
- Familiarity with defence standards and systems engineering best practice
- Ability to integrate, analyse, and problem solve at system level
