Our client, a leading organisation within the UK defence and aerospace sector, is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Planner to support a flagship military aircraft programme during a critical phase of production and modification. You'll play a vital role in ensuring production teams have accurate, compliant and efficient work packages that support safe, on-time programme delivery.
The Role
As a Manufacturing Planner, you'll take ownership of creating, maintaining and controlling detailed electronic work packages for aircraft maintenance, repair and modification activities. Working closely with engineering, production and quality teams, you'll ensure all manufacturing documentation meets regulatory, engineering and customer requirements while supporting efficient delivery across the programme.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in aircraft maintenance planning, technical documentation or production planning within a regulated aerospace environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and maintain detailed electronic manufacturing work packages using GoldESP IG1.
- Develop clear and accurate technical work instructions in accordance with approved engineering data and regulatory requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings, OEM technical publications and maintenance documentation to produce compliant manufacturing plans.
- Support the creation, control and delivery of complex manufacturing documentation throughout the production lifecycle.
- Maintain configuration control of manufacturing plans, engineering baselines, aircraft work orders and non-conformance documentation.
- Coordinate technical queries from the shop floor, liaising with engineering teams to deliver timely resolutions.
- Ensure all planning activities comply with aviation regulations, company procedures and quality standards.
- Support production teams by providing accurate technical documentation that enables efficient maintenance and modification activities.
- Monitor workflow, documentation quality and planning performance to support programme delivery.
About You
We’re looking for an organised and detail-oriented Manufacturing Planner with experience in aerospace maintenance or production planning within a regulated environment.
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience supporting scheduled aircraft maintenance, repair and modification programmes.
- Strong technical writing skills with experience producing detailed manufacturing or maintenance work instructions.
- Proven experience using Engineering Resource Planning systems such as GoldESP IG1.
- A solid understanding of aircraft maintenance planning and production documentation.
- Working knowledge of MAA Regulatory Articles (RA), MAA Regulatory Publications (MRP) Part 145, aviation Quality Assurance (QA) and Safety Management Systems (SMS).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical publications and authorised maintenance documentation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across engineering, production, quality and customer teams.
- Experience managing multiple priorities while delivering work accurately and to demanding timescales.
- Understanding of aircraft scheduled maintenance processes, including reviewing scopes of work, deferred maintenance and associated planning activities.
