Senior Infrastructure Engineer in Hereford

The Role Scope As Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will operate as a senior technical authority within Tech Operations. Your focus will be on ensuring our infrastructure remains secure, scalable and high-performing, while driving forward modernisation initiatives aligned to our architecture roadmap. You’ll collaborate closely with the Infrastructure Team Lead, Head of Tech Operations and wider technology stakeholders, acting as a senior escalation point and contributing to best-in-class infrastructure standards across the business.

Role Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the definition of infrastructure principles and technical standards
• Ensure solutions align to architectural direction and long-term scalability
• Evaluate emerging technologies to support future capability
• Lead or contribute to enterprise-scale infrastructure projects
• Design and implement secure, resilient solutions
• Drive documentation and best practice across the environment
• Support ongoing infrastructure transformation initiatives
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex 2nd/3rd line issues
• Support network, server, identity and virtualisation environments
• Maintain system performance, availability and security
• Participate in an on‑call rota
• Mentor and support junior engineers
• Promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
• Create alignment across technical stakeholders

About You:

• Firewall expertise and core routing/switching (Junos Cli, Juniper, OSPF, BGP, VLANs)
• Windows Server & End User Computing
• Identity & Access Management (AD, Entra and Okta)
• Virtualisation (VMware & GCP)
• EDM/MDM (Intune, SCCM and IRU)
• Backup solutions (VMware backup products eg. Veeam, IDPA)
• PowerShell scripting and API experience
• Strong understanding of IT best practice
• Driving license required
• Terraform, Linux administration, Hyperconverged Infrastructure, Cisco Meraki, Google Workspace
