Our client is an ambitious, fast-growing search and performance marketing agency based in Manchester. Due to continued growth, they are expanding their Sales & Marketing team and are looking to appoint a commercially driven Business Development Manager to accelerate new client acquisition across multiple sectors. This is a hybrid role (2 days per week in the office).
The Role - Business Development Manager
Reporting directly to the Head of Business Development, the successful candidate will take full ownership of new business generation, with a strong focus on outbound B2B sales activity. You will identify, engage and convert Senior Marketing Managers, Business Owners and Directors into long-term agency clients. You will be selling high-value digital marketing solutions, including:
- SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)
- PPC / Paid Search
- Paid Social
- Digital PR
This is a consultative, relationship-led sales role, not transactional selling.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve and exceed monthly sales targets
- Proactively generate new business through LinkedIn outreach, email, cold calling and face-to-face meetings
- Build and manage a self-generated sales pipeline
- Identify ideal client profiles and engage key decision-makers
- Deliver tailored, value-led sales messaging throughout the sales journey
- Lead discovery calls, sales meetings and client pitches
- Scope opportunities and collaborate with internal teams to deliver compelling audits and proposals
- Present digital marketing strategies aligned to client objectives and commercial goals
- Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline stages and sales forecasts
- Work closely with marketing and delivery teams to ensure a seamless handover post-sale
About You
You are a results-driven Business Development professional with a passion for sales, relationship building and problem solving.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in Business Development / B2B Sales
- Experience within a digital marketing agency or marketing services environment is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of digital marketing channels and how they integrate
- Working knowledge of SEO, PPC, Paid Social and Digital PR
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and decision-makers
- Commercially astute with an understanding of B2B and B2C metrics
- Highly organised with strong time management skills
- Target-driven and motivated by uncapped commission
- Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive, inquisitive and solutions-focused
- A good sense of humour is welcomed
