Experienced Fitter or Installer Looking for a More Varied Role?

We are looking for an experienced, practical and customer-focused Fitter / Installer to join an established business based in North West London.

Offering a salary of circa £40,000, this is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong hands-on fitting and installation experience who would like to develop into a broader role combining installation, site surveys, measuring, estimating, customer service and sales.

You could currently be working as a Fitter, Installer, Installation Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Installation Technician, Surveyor, Estimator or Multi-Skilled Tradesperson.

The key requirement is that you're technically capable, confident using tools, experienced working in customers' homes or commercial premises and able to deliver a professional customer experience.

The Role

This is a varied field-based position where you'll take responsibility for customer appointments from initial assessment through to successful installation.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Visiting customers in their homes and commercial premises.
  • Carrying out site surveys, measurements and assessments.
  • Understanding customer requirements and identifying the best solution.
  • Producing accurate estimates and quotations.
  • Completing installations and fitting work to a high professional standard.
  • Assessing walls, surfaces, fixing points and installation requirements.
  • Identifying potential technical or installation issues before commencing work.
  • Selecting and using appropriate tools, fixings and installation methods.
  • Delivering and installing products safely and professionally.
  • Explaining products, services and installation requirements to customers.
  • Identifying opportunities for additional products and services.
  • Handling customer queries and resolving issues professionally.
  • Managing your own appointments and daily workload.
  • Completing invoices, job sheets and supporting documentation accurately.
  • Maintaining your vehicle, tools and equipment.
  • Working closely with sales, operations and customer service colleagues to ensure jobs are completed successfully.

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in candidates with proven experience in a practical fitting or installation role.

Your background could include

Fitting | Installation | Field Service | Home Improvements | Kitchens | Bedrooms | Furniture | Joinery | Carpentry | Windows & Doors | Flooring | Shutters | Blinds | Curtains | Signage | Shopfitting | Fixtures & Fittings | Interior Products | Property Maintenance | Building Products

Experience fitting curtains, blinds or window furnishings would certainly be useful, but we're keen to consider candidates from a much wider range of installation backgrounds.

About You

You'll ideally have

  • Proven experience as a Fitter, Installer or Installation Engineer.
  • Strong practical, technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence using hand tools and power tools.
  • Experience measuring accurately and working from specifications.
  • An understanding of different fixing methods, wall types and surfaces.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A high standard of workmanship.
  • Experience working independently at customer locations.
  • Strong face-to-face customer service skills.
  • The confidence to discuss requirements, prices and additional services with customers.
  • Good numeracy skills for measuring, estimating and calculating costs.
  • The ability to organise appointments and manage your own workload.
  • A reliable, professional and presentable approach.
  • The ability to complete paperwork and job records accurately.

Experience in surveying, estimating or sales would be advantageous but isn't essential if you have the right practical fitting background and are comfortable dealing with customers.

More Than Just a Fitting Job

This could be particularly attractive to an experienced fitter or installer who enjoys the practical side of their job but wants more responsibility and customer interaction.

Rather than simply being given an installation and completing it, you'll become involved earlier in the process – meeting customers, understanding their requirements, surveying, measuring, estimating and recommending solutions before completing the installation.

It's an opportunity to use your existing practical skills while developing valuable experience across sales, estimating, surveying and customer relationship management.

If you're an experienced Fitter, Installer, Installation Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Installation Technician, Surveyor or Estimator based within commuting distance of North West London, we'd like to hear from you.

Salary circa £40,000 + benefits.

Apply now for immediate consideration.
