We have an exciting opportunity for an Accountant/Junior Accountant role for an Oil & Energy company based in London. This position is in charge of financial accounting for the intricate trading activities of the UK in line with the group's accounting standards and all applicable rules, laws, and reporting standards. This is a trading firm that has built commercial ties in many nations and areas and is among the world's largest oil dealers.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing financial accounting for complex trading activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with group accounting standards and applicable regulations.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records in SAP/ERP systems.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of global/UK accounting principles and practices, particularly hedge accounting.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related discipline.
  • CPA, ACA, or ACCA qualification, or equivalent.
  • Mandarin proficiency.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure during peak times.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions about accounting-related matters using professional judgment.
  • Excellent team player.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a relevant accounting position.
  • Familiarity with the oil business and trade environment.
  • Understanding of good financial habits.
  • Experience processing large volumes of data and knowledge of SAP/ERP desired.
  • Solid understanding of accounting standards.
  • Preferably big four working experience.
  • Useful if applicant has experience working in an FSA-regulated setting.
