Responsibilities
- Oversee the day‑to‑day Housekeeping operation on the guest floors, ensuring smooth, efficient, and high‑quality service delivery.
- Support Senior Housekeeping Management with key administrative duties, including rota preparation, raising purchase orders, and managing departmental costs.
- Uphold Mandarin Oriental’s quality standards, ensuring they are fully implemented, consistently maintained, and evident in every aspect of housekeeping operations.
- Drive on‑the‑job training and development initiatives, identifying learning needs, delivering coaching, and ensuring all colleagues adhere to established standards and procedures to provide an elevated guest experience.
- Drive effective people management, supporting recruitment initiatives, colleague reviews, and ongoing performance management.
- Ensure exceptional guest service at all times by monitoring quality levels, completing regular inspections, and consistently meeting and exceeding guest expectations.
As a Head Housekeeper you will be working on a rotating shift basis, Monday to Sunday, 39 hours a week. Shift patterns will vary from morning, evening, and night shifts (including weekends and bank holidays), so flexibility is required where applicable.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in rooms division leadership role within a luxury, ideally five‑star, hotel environment.
- Strong people‑leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, train, and develop a diverse team while maintaining a calm, professional approach under pressure.
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, with a track record of managing large‑scale operations to the highest standards.
- Solid operational competence, including experience in inventory control, cost management, and effective use of housekeeping systems and technology.
- Excellent communication skills and a flexible, hands‑on approach, able to collaborate across departments and adapt to business needs, including varied shifts, weekends, and bank holidays.
