Manchester's Finest Group is on the hunt for a dynamic, detail-oriented and self-motivated Junior Writer. This role is central to our operations, focusing on keeping our website updated and maintaining our event listings. With your finger on the pulse of Manchester's arts, culture, music and food and drink scenes, you will source and file relevant content for publishing both on the Manchester’s Finest website and social platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Listings Management: Source and write about events happening across Greater Manchester relevant to our platform, spanning the arts, music, culture, and food and drink sectors. Use your excellent writing skills to craft engaging event descriptions and manage the publishing process. Curate a weekly edit for our ‘Best Things To Do This Week’ round-up.
  • News writing: The role may also include occasional news writing and captions for social media posts, plus the potential for attending social media shoots with the Manchester’s Finest social and video teams.

Other Responsibilities

  • Website Analytics Monitoring: Regularly check website analytics to understand user behaviour, traffic patterns, and SEO performance. Use these insights to make recommendations for website updates or improvements.

Requirements

  • A proven ability to work independently and at a fast pace, meeting deadlines without compromising the quality of work.
  • Strong writing skills, with an ability to craft engaging and accurate content.
  • Good knowledge of WordPress and its functionalities is essential.
  • SEO knowledge, with experience of optimising website content for search engines.
  • A proactive and adaptive mindset, with an openness to learning and problem-solving.
  • Basic knowledge of online publishing and social media platforms.
  • Familiarity with image copyright laws and guidelines to ensure all published visuals are legally compliant and appropriately credited.
  • Knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) would be a plus.
