Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Rehabilitation Assistant to work as part of the General Surgery and Acute Intensive Care Therapy team of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
You will work as an interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Assistant supporting the role of all members of the team to ensure high quality patient-focused care to inpatients who may have complex acute rehabilitation needs post surgery or AICU.
You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and ability to work in General Surgery and Acute Intensive Care areas of care. You should be able to work as directed by the qualified surgical therapists but also be confident and competent in carrying your own caseload and reporting back to the team. You should therefore demonstrate the ability to motivate the patient in order to maximise their rehabilitation potential.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Qualified Physiotherapists in the delivery of high quality rehabilitation care and help facilitate safe discharges from hospital.
- Work directly with patients to carry out treatment programs as directed by the physiotherapists and report back. Assist the physiotherapists with more complex patients. Demonstrate good moving and handling skills with patients.
- Collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team, attending handovers and feeding information to and from the therapy team.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills with patients, their families and the multidisciplinary team.
- Motivate and encourage patients with their therapy, with an empathetic nature.
- Perform administrative tasks and equipment management, including note writing, data collection for audit purposes, and general IT skills.
