Job overview

The post holder will be part of a Endoscope Decontamination team who will assist with the process of endoscope decontamination across all satellite areas within the Manchester University NHS
Foundation trust (MFT).
She/he will be based from the Endoscopy Units, at the Manchester Royal Infirmary, Trafford General Hospital or North Manchester General Hospital sites, and be allocated to one of the satellite areas requiring the
services of a decontamination technician. The decontamination team will cover weekdays, bank holidays, evenings, and weekend shifts on a rotational basis as part of a seven-day service.

Main duties of the job

Understand the functions and clinical use of endoscopes.
Have working knowledge of all endoscopes used, to include an overview of the instrument construction and care and maintenance requirements.. Understand and put into practice the principles of endoscope cleaning and
decontamination in line with National and Local policy.
Work within the National Endoscopy Occupational standards and “Decontamination Room Workforce Competences” which will be assessed on a regular basis. Undertake Automated Endoscope Reprocessor (AER) manufacturer’s operators
training and attend periodic update sessions.
