Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Crisis Care Team. Our team recently won the Clinical Team of the Year award at the RMCH Awards Ceremony, highlighting our dedication to exceptional patient care.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality and efficient administrative support to our team. The Crisis Care Team is a new service within Manchester Foundation Trust\’s CAMHS directorate. We are a dedicated group of mental health practitioners and support staff, offering community support to young people and their families experiencing a mental health crisis.

You should be able to use your own initiative, work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and possess excellent organisational and communication skills. Previous administrative or secretarial experience within a health or hospital setting would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will support the clinical members of the Crisis Care Team. As we continue taking our first steps as a service, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the creation of a variety of administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of the service and the best possible experience for children, young people, their families, and carers.

You will play an important role within the team, helping to maintain and, when necessary, improve good working practices. Your responsibilities will include coordinating clinical activity such as managing referrals and appointments, providing secretarial services including typing letters and reports, organising team members\’ diaries and maintaining accurate patient records.

Person specification

Qualifications

  • Good level of general education and English and numeracy skills.
  • NHS experience. ECDL qualification, or relevant experience with common computer applications.

Experience

  • Experience in setting up computer files and spreadsheets.
  • Involvement in supporting Audit activity.
  • NHS/Health administrative experience. Familiarity with hospital records system.
  • Experience of minute taking and accurate recording of meetings.

Skills and Attributes

  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise competing tasks effectively.
  • Good speed/accuracy level of keyboard skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills in order to liaise effectively with people at all levels.
  • Minute taking skills
  • Ability to respond appropriately to young people and their families who may contact the service in crisis.

Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of secretarial procedures
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Diary management and appointment booking using manual and computerised systems.
  • Knowledge of Trust policies and procedures.
