The Role: This role will be working 20 hours per week, and will support the delivery of sports science provision to players and staff, contributing to the collection, analysis, and communication of performance data. You will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to help support player preparation, development, and availability across the season. Reporting to the Physical Performance Coach, our Sports Data Scientist will deliver sports science support in alignment with the women's physical performance strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of sports science services within the Women’s First Team
- Assist in monitoring and recording player training and match loads
- Contribute to data analysis and help communicate key insights to staff and players
- Work collaboratively with coaching, medical, and performance staff
- Support processes around international player monitoring where required
- Contribute to ongoing projects, research, or innovation where appropriate
- Engage in continued professional development and learning
The Person:
Qualifications:
- BSc (Hons) and MSc in Sports Science or related discipline.
- Aspiration to work towards professional accreditation via BASES
Skills and Experience:
- Experience working or placement exposure in a performance sport environment
- Understanding of the physical demands of football (women’s game knowledge beneficial)
- Interest or experience in load monitoring and performance analysis
- Familiarity with relevant systems (e.g. STATSports, Excel, Tableau or similar)
- Good communication skills and willingness to work within a team environment
- Proactive approach to learning and development
- Genuine interest in supporting female athlete development
