Senior Marketing Manager – Owned, Operated & Organic Channels

The Senior Marketing Manager – Owned, Operated & Organic Channels (O&O&O) role is a key position at Manchester United, responsible for driving commercial performance across the club’s owned media assets, including the website, app, CRM, and other organic touchpoints. This role is vital in ensuring that market‑driving campaigns and products are surfaced to maximise revenue and fan engagement.

Role Purpose

Lead the commercial marketing strategy for the club’s owned, operated, and organic environments – ensuring that key campaigns, products and revenue‑driving opportunities are surfaced effectively across the club’s website, app, CRM surfaces and organic touchpoints. The role focuses on the commercial use of owned and organic channels rather than channel ownership, acting as a bridge between marketing, CRM and channel owners to deliver fan‑first, commercially effective activity across all business areas including eCommerce, D2C and venue/ticketing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial marketing strategy for the club’s owned and organic environments, ensuring revenue‑driving campaigns and products are surfaced effectively.
  • Define marketing priorities and placements for eCommerce, D2C, venue/ticketing, MUTV and other initiatives across the website, app, CRM creative surfaces and organic touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Product team to align commercial content planning with user experience and product roadmaps.
  • Work with the Content and Social teams to ensure marketing priorities and commercial moments are represented accurately and on time.
  • Bridge planning between Consumer Marketing and CRM to coordinate lifecycle journeys and on‑site experiences for key campaigns.
  • Partner with the E‑commerce Growth & Activation Lead to translate trading goals into owned‑channel marketing priorities.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional delivery for major moments (e.g., kit launches, product drops, ticketing campaigns, partner activations).
  • Use analytics and insights to optimise the commercial use of owned channels and improve conversion performance.
  • Champion collaboration and clarity between Marketing, Content/Social and Digital Product teams to enhance fan experience and commercial outcomes.

Skills & Experience

  • 5–7 years’ experience in marketing, CRM or digital campaign planning across complex multi‑stakeholder environments, ideally within sports or entertainment.
  • Strong understanding of web, app, organic and CRM ecosystems and how to leverage them for commercial growth.
  • Skilled at coordinating across channel owners and managing through influence rather than ownership.
  • Analytical and insight‑driven – confident using performance data to optimise content and placements.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and relationship‑building skills.
  • Commercially minded with a clear understanding of how marketing drives revenue while supporting fan experience.
  • Experience working with or alongside digital product, content publishing and CRM teams.

Contribution to Department

Provide commercial marketing leadership across the club’s owned and organic environments, ensuring revenue‑driving campaigns and priorities are surfaced strategically and effectively. Strengthen collaboration between Marketing, Content, and Digital Product teams, ensuring owned channels deliver both excellent fan experiences and measurable commercial impact.
