An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Club’s Ground Staff team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience preparing football pitches to the highest standards, supporting all squads from the Under-9s through to the Men’s and Women’s First Teams.
We are looking for a candidate with previous experience in sports turf management, ideally holding relevant qualifications. The successful applicant will work as part of a large, collaborative team, liaising with colleagues across departments and with coaching staff from all squads.
The Role:
- To prepare and maintain football pitches to the highest of standards all year round.
- To support the department by carrying out duties to your utmost abilities.
- Communicate professionally with your immediate colleagues and other departments.
- Learn to use all the resources available to you professionally, effectively & efficiently.
- Health & Safety & environmental experience preferable; you may be asked to assist & comply with any club or external audits.
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner toward employer, employees, colleagues, representatives from the companies the club deal with, and the public.
- Be approachable with a positive can-do attitude to your immediate colleagues and colleagues in other departments.
The Person:
- Previous experience in the industry is required.
- Experience on machines is preferable, including Toro 3100D, Dennis Premiers & G860, C34 Evolution electric mowers, Toro Pro-cores, tractor mounted aerators, line marking with wheel to wheel and spray markers including Beam rider.
- A positive “can do” attitude with a good work ethic is important.
- Football clubs have fixtures that will involve the successful candidate working unsociable hours in the evenings and weekends; a flexible proactive approach is essential & an understanding of how a football season works regarding working hours.
- Reliability and punctuality is essential.
- Level 1 qualification in Sports turf is required, and candidates with level 2 qualification in sports turf is preferable; the successful candidate will have the opportunity to obtain level 3 in sports turf.
- Experience with Health & safety guidelines as protecting all our staff is a priority.
- Knowledge of environmental guidelines.
- Knowledge regarding fertilisers preferable including chemical spraying applications.
- PA1 & PA6 spraying licence is essential.
- A good sense of housekeeping to always keep the work areas as tidy as possible.
- A sense of pride when it comes to cleaning of used machinery so everything is left clean and tidy for the next user.
