Purpose

To manage the financial operations and P&Ls for the Men’s First Team, Academy, and Women’s Football, delivering accurate reporting, forecasting, and budgeting to support effective decision‑making. The role partners closely with football leadership and cross‑functional teams to provide financial insight, modelling, and governance, ensuring regulatory compliance, strong budget control, and support for strategic football investments.

Role

  • Manage departmental P&Ls and day‑to‑day financial operations for Men’s First Team, Academy, and Women’s Football, including month end close, weekly forecasting, annual budgeting, and long‑term financial planning.
  • Completion of timely and accurate monthly management accounts, including identifying key risks and opportunities, and variances against budget.
  • Partner closely with the Football Leadership Team and other relevant stakeholders on operational and strategic initiatives, including non‑player and player Capex.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration with Strategy, Commercial, Legal, HR, FP&A and Football Administration teams on key projects.
  • Support Research and Development efforts across short‑ and long‑term football investment projects.
  • Contribute to regulatory submissions as required by Premier League, WSL, and UEFA regulations.
  • Provide financial modelling and scenario planning across various project appraisals, that will directly inform decision making and become the basis of budget planning and cash flow forecasting.
  • Able to clearly and effectively present and report on financial performance to a variety of stakeholders, including explaining complex financial concepts to individuals without a financial background.
  • Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships whilst confidently challenging stakeholders to ensure adherence to budgets.
  • Providing ad‑hoc duties to appropriate members of the Football Finance and wider Finance team as required.
  • Provide support to First Team, Academy, and Women’s transactions.

  • Experience working in a fast‑paced environment, working to tight deadlines, and managing priorities effectively.

  • Driven with the ability to work independently, deliver outputs, and be solution‑oriented.
  • Strong data analysis skills – comfortable with data and numbers.
  • Microsoft Office skills (strong in Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Project management skills (including ability to work across a range of topics & projects).
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of organisational ability.
  • Clear commercial acumen and the ability to simplify complex information.
  • Confidence in both written and verbal communication.
  • Resilient under pressure, with a calm and collaborative approach.
  • A flexible and adaptive attitude.
  • Interest in the football industry.
  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification with relevant post‑qualification experience.
