Role Overview

The purpose of this role is to lead a designated player group within the Academy, delivering the holistic development of high‑potential players in line with the club’s Academy curriculum. Working closely with the multi‑disciplinary team (MDT), the coach will promote the club’s playing philosophy and report directly to the Head of Academy Development & Football Methodology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a designated player group within the Academy
  • Plan and deliver the holistic development of high‑potential players in collaboration with the MDT
  • Implement the Manchester United Academy curriculum, promoting the club’s playing philosophy and style
  • Work closely with coaches across different age phases and departments to enhance Academy practices and curriculum
  • Support the recruitment team in identifying emerging talent and potential signings
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including parents, to design, deliver, and continuously review individual development plans
  • Foster a positive yet challenging learning environment that promotes player growth and excellence

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven ability to deliver high‑quality, on‑grass football coaching sessions that stretch and challenge high‑potential players
  • Highly motivated, forward‑thinking coach with experience developing players in elite football environments
  • Strong understanding and insight into the development pathways of Premier League and international‑level players
  • Hold a UEFA A Licence and the FA Advanced Youth Award (or currently working towards)
  • Excellent communicator and effective team player, capable of thriving in an elite development setting
  • Competent in IT, with experience using SportsCode and angles analysis software
  • Hold current Enhanced DBS clearance, along with valid FA Safeguarding and Emergency Aid certifications
  • Possess a full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Degree in Sports Science or a related discipline
