The Role
We are looking for reliable and proactive Academy Activity Assistants to join our Academy Operations team, supporting activity across our Carrington Training Complex and Salford Academy venues. This is a varied operational role, providing high‑quality support to ensure Academy training sessions, fixtures and events run safely, smoothly and professionally. You will play an important part in creating a positive experience for players, coaches, parents, visitors and staff, while helping to maintain the high standards expected across Manchester United's Academy.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the delivery of Academy training sessions, fixtures and events across all age groups, including evenings and weekends.
- Acting as the first point of contact for players, parents, staff, visiting teams, match officials, scouts, agents and guests.
- Coordinating arrivals and directing visitors to pitches, changing facilities, family areas and other Academy locations.
- Working closely with Security, Safeguarding, Grounds, Facilities and Cleaning teams to maintain safe, welcoming and professional environments.
- Monitoring scout and agent attendance in line with Academy procedures.
- Supporting the consistent application of the Academy Code of Conduct for players, parents, spectators and visitors.
- Assisting with operational administration, including attendance records, incident reporting and session documentation.
- Supporting first aid coordination and emergency procedures where required.
- Reporting safeguarding concerns, incidents and facility issues promptly to the appropriate Academy staff.
- Undertaking additional duties as required to support the effective running of Academy operations.
Typical Working Hours
Monday to Friday: 4:00pm – 8:00pm
Saturday and Sunday: 8:30am – 2:00pm
The Person
We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a busy sporting environment and is passionate about creating a positive experience for young players and their families.
You Will Have
- Experience working with young people in a safe, supportive and professional environment.
- Previous experience in sports operations, coaching support, event delivery, facility coordination or administration.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to engage professionally with players, parents, staff and visitors.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to adapt to changing operational priorities.
- An understanding of safeguarding, welfare and health and safety within a sporting or youth environment.
- A proactive, reliable and professional approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and across multiple Academy sites.
Desirable Experience
- First Aid qualification.
- Safeguarding qualification (training can be provided where required).
