Manchester Port Health Authority are looking to recruit a Port Health Officer to join our small team based in Runcorn, Cheshire.
Responsibilities
- Ship inspection
- Imported food control
- Infectious disease control
- Water quality monitoring
- Environmental protection
- Pest control
- Waste management
- Civil contingency planning
The Authority is responsible for undertaking the Port Health function for over 50 miles of waterway on the Manchester Ship Canal and River Weaver.
Qualifications
- A degree in Environmental Health
- A certificate of registration from the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (or equivalent)
- Motivation to handle a varied workload
- Ability to exercise good judgement
- Excellent communication skills
Officers will be expected to take part in a 24/7 standby/call out arrangement, for which extra remuneration will be payable.
