The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students. Applicants must be based in the UK for the duration of the role. The main purpose of this role is to create flexible rigs for existing organic non-humanoid 3D assets and animate them to express particular emotions following specific instructions and feedback. The successful applicant will also support minor model adjustments to prepare assets for rigging. The animations will be used in a VR art game that aims to help people express their emotions using their voice. You will work closely with the project lead Dr. Adinda van ’t Klooster and the wider project team. Please include a link to your portfolio.

Key Tasks

  • Create flexible rigs for organic 3D models in Maya.
  • Animate the models to express specific emotions through body language, morphology and movement based on reference and creative direction.
  • Liaise with the hiring manager in weekly sprint meetings.
  • Support minor model adjustments for rigging preparation.
  • Gain professional experience in animation and rigging within a wider project team.
  • Evidence your level of professionalism.
  • Gain experience working towards a live brief.

Person Specification

  • Experience of modelling and rigging in Maya – evidenced through a portfolio.
  • Experience of animating in Maya – evidenced through a portfolio.
  • Final year undergraduate students (L6) or L5 or postgraduate students.
  • Work well towards a deadline.
  • Ability to work independently and implement changes based on feedback received.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Excellent team working skills.
