An exciting new Skills Coach role for our Leadership and Management Programmes (24-month fixed-term contract) is available within our growing team of industry-focused professionals in the Apprenticeship Unit at Manchester Metropolitan University. We also welcome applications for part-time or job-share arrangements. If you are interested in a fractional role, please state this in your application.
Experience in accounting & finance or teaching is desirable; however, applicants from other fields with leadership or management experience are also encouraged to apply. As a Skills Coach, you will join a fast-growing, proactive team working with employers, apprentices, and academic colleagues across the University. You will be the key contact for apprentices and employers, providing coaching, guidance, and support. You will monitor progress against apprenticeship standards, prepare apprentices for End Point Assessment, and maintain strong employer relationships to ensure effective workplace development.
You will support apprentices on the following programmes:
- Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA)
- CMDA Retail Accounting and Finance Manager
- PG Teaching Apprenticeship
Typically, you will:
- Conduct apprentice and line manager reviews (online and in the workplace)
- Act as the first point of contact for apprentices and employers
- Coach learners to develop and evidence required knowledge, skills and behaviours
- Deliver workshops to prepare apprentices for End Point Assessment
- Provide pastoral support as Personal Tutor, referring to Student Services where needed
- Liaise with academic teams on workplace assignments and projects
- Represent the University in the workplace
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience teaching or assessing students, apprentices, or trainees
- Experience providing pastoral support
- Background in accounting & finance, teaching, or management
- Experience building strong employer relationships
