The Department of Social Care and Social Work is a successful academic community of students and staff committed to achieving high quality teaching, student experience and research. We deliver courses to over 800 students and are ambitious for growth. We are highly innovative in teaching and are recognised locally and regionally as leaders in Degree Apprenticeships, where we are award winning. We are renowned for the quality of our national delivery that includes the Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care.

You will teach across four modules that include the Mary Seacole programme (we are accredited to deliver this by the NHS Leadership Academy). The Department has a track record of obtaining research council funding and has a growing portfolio of projects. Much of this is in the area of learning disabilities and autism, health inequalities, mental health and child protection.

The specific role is for Senior Lecturer in Health and Social Care to teach on the Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care. The role will include curriculum development, teaching and assessment and support for apprentices and students. You will be a passionate academic with an excellent grounding in health and social care leadership and committed to upholding professional standards and providing excellent student experience. The role will also require the ability to be a strategic thinker to develop the strategy, narrative, and pedagogies. You will have the ability to liaise with Department, Programme, and Module leaders, as well as external partners and our colleagues in the Apprenticeship Unit.

We are seeking applicants who have experience in health or social care leadership and management either in the National Health Service, Local Authority or the Voluntary Sector. You will have in-depth knowledge of contemporary health / social care practice including ideally expertise in project implementation and management and strategy. Ideally you will be expected to have Higher Education level teaching experience. You will be a strong collegiate team player with the ability to impassion and motivate student/staff communities through your contributions, collaboration and co-creation. You will be able to deliver online and in the classroom. You will be willing to travel to our teaching locations that currently include Birmingham, Cambridge, Leeds, London and Newcastle.
