Overview: The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role. Saraband is seeking an organised, enthusiastic and detail-minded student assistant to support the general activities of the team across a range of duties, working remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Proofreading and production assistance.
- Liaising with authors, bookshops and others as needed, supporting admin for events.
- Assisting at publisher book fairs, including the Northern Publishers Fair at Manchester Central Library on 25 April.
- Assisting with online platform audits, including Amazon.
- Assisting with audiobook platform audits, including Spotify.
- Research and fact-finding and/or fact-checking, as needed.
- Assisting with creation of social media assets and content (Insta, TikTok).
- As part of a small team, you will be expected to be flexible.
Requirements:
- This role is only open to current Manchester Met students in the School of English who have:
- Strong written English, good punctuation and grammar for editorial, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks independently.
- Digital skills including some experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Attention to detail, with good spelling and accuracy with dates, numbers, etc.
Desirable:
- Experience using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop and/or Canva.
- Interests in some or all of the genres we publish in.
