The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students. Applicants must be based in the UK for the duration of the role. The Student Management Office is looking for students to work as Graduation Assistants at the Award Ceremonies. The ceremonies will take place at the Midland Hotel and the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, between Tuesday 14 July and Friday 24 July 2026. Candidates must commit to one week of work on the following dates: Tuesday 14 July – Friday 17 July 2026 or Monday 20 July – Friday 24 July 2026. Successful applicants will be based at either venue.
Duties will include:
- Greeting students and their families and directing them to registration, robing and photography and seats in the auditorium.
- Helping to manage queues.
- Providing cover for the registration & information desks.
- Guidance to off‑site screening facilities or gowning facilities.
- Other duties as required.
The role allows students to gain confidence in working events, ensuring the smooth functioning of their areas, and to gain experience in customer service and handling enquiries. Students must commit to one full week of Graduation shifts, totalling a possible 45 hours for the week. Working hours are as follows (finish times are approximate and may vary by ceremony size and running time): 7:45 am – 5:30 pm, approximate latest finish time. Breaks will be around the ceremony start times and food and refreshments will be provided.
Other requirements: This is a formal role; please wear smart black trousers and comfortable shoes as you will be on your feet all day. A t-shirt will be provided for the duration of the role.
