The Finance Intern will support the UK Finance team in delivering accurate financial reporting, analysis, and operational support across the Franke UK Home Solutions business. This role provides exposure to a multinational, matrixed environment and offers hands‑on experience across key finance processes including month‑end reporting, budgeting, cost analysis, and commercial performance tracking. The internship is designed to support skill development in financial operations and business partnering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Assist with month‑end closing activities, including journal preparation, reconciliations, and variance analysis. Support the preparation of management accounts, dashboards, and KPI reports. Conduct cost, margin, and sales performance analysis to support decision‑making in the UK cluster.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Help consolidate budget and forecasting inputs from cross‑functional teams. Prepare supporting schedules and analysis for the Finance Manager and senior leadership.
  • Operational Finance Support: Assist in monitoring purchase orders, invoices, accruals, and supplier queries. Support credit control processes including customer account reviews and tracking outstanding balances. Work with the supply chain and commercial teams to analyse stock, pricing, and product performance where required.
  • Data Integrity & Systems: Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date financial data in SAP and Excel models. Support continuous improvement initiatives in financial processes, automation, and reporting accuracy.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Supply Chain, HR, and Operations teams to provide financial insights. Participate in projects relating to compliance, sustainability reporting, or internal controls.

Eligibility

This role is only open to current Manchester Met students who have:

  • Essential: Studying towards a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business. Strong numerical and analytical skills. Proficiency in Excel; interest in ERP systems such as SAP. High attention to detail, professionalism, and confidentiality. Strong communication skills and ability to work in a hybrid, multicultural environment.
  • Desirable: Understanding of UK financial regulation and VAT basics. Experience in consumer goods, manufacturing, or retail environments. Interest in CIMA/ACCA pathways.
