The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role. There is an opportunity for a student to work as Events Assistant on an upcoming event, a one‑day Symposium to be held at Brooks Building on 25th June, titled 'Towards a Sociology of Health and Illness with Gypsy, Roma and Traveller Communities'. The event will involve academics, organisations and community members, to share research, develop conceptual and methodological innovations, and build networks for future collaboration. In doing so, it seeks to establish a foundation for sustained sociological engagement with the health and illness experiences of GRT communities.
Event details: 25th June 2026, 9:00-16:30, Brooks Building, Manchester Metropolitan University.
Responsibilities
- Assist in all pre‑event preparation
- Assist with the delivery of events
- Assist with the branding of events
- Liaise with internal and external suppliers
- Respond to event enquiries via phone and email
- General administration duties
- Support with technology during the event
- Support with photography
- Support with social media
This role is only open to those students who are fully registered with Jobs4Students (this includes having attended a right‑to‑work appointment).
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience using Microsoft Teams, particularly the chat function
- Excellent time management skills, including a strong commitment to punctuality
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proactive problem‑solving skills
