Please note, this opportunity is only available to Manchester Met 2025 graduates who will be based in the UK for the duration of this role. You must have graduated from an undergraduate course from Manchester Met in June 2025 to apply. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept applications from current or previous postgraduate students. The role is ideal for a recent School of English graduate with an interest in student success, skills development, and career pathways within and beyond the arts and humanities subjects.
The postholder will work closely with the school's Graduate Outcomes Lead and employability team to design and deliver activities that support graduates and undergraduates to articulate and achieve their career goals. The main purpose of this role is to:
- Support the development of professional skills in graduates and undergraduates from across our wide range of programmes
- Design, promote and deliver activities which will support the development of graduate level skills
- Raise awareness about the Graduate Outcomes survey
- Establish strong connections and develop community between the school and our recent graduates.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and delivery of employability initiatives, workshops, and skills sessions tailored to School of English students and graduates.
- Provide guidance and resources to help students and graduates identify, reflect on, and articulate transferable skills gained through their studies.
- Promote activities which will support professional skills (e.g. LinkedIn Learning, Rise courses, Careers Service).
Graduate Outcomes & Social Media Engagement
- Support the analysis, and reporting of social media engagement
- Assist in identifying trends and areas for improvement in student/graduate career progression.
- Contribute to action plans that enhance graduate employability and outcomes.
- Map employability initiatives across programmes within the School of English.
Student and Graduate Engagement
- Develop communications to encourage student and graduate participation in employability activities.
- Signposting to relevant opportunities and resources, sharing on social media
- Work with students and alumni to promote career pathways.
Employer & Alumni Engagement
- Assist in organising career-focused events such as employer and alumni panels, networking sessions, and workshops.
- Help signpost to internship, placement, and work experience opportunities relevant to School of English students and graduates.
Communications & Promotion
- Create and promote content highlighting graduate success stories, career pathways, and opportunities.
- Maintain and update employability resources for the school.
- Support campaigns aimed at increasing engagement with employability initiatives.
- Contribute content to the School of English LinkedIn pages and encourage graduate engagement with LinkedIn.
Events & Projects
- Coordinate and support employability-related events (e.g. skills workshops, guest talks).
- Contribute to School-wide projects that enhance student experience and graduate success.
- Provide administrative support for the School of English employability team in the delivery of employability initiatives.
Gain experience in employability, careers education, and student engagement. Develop skills in data analysis. Develop skills in event design and management. Develop connections with stakeholders and employers. Build a greater understanding of graduate labour markets. Contribute to meaningful improvements in student and graduate outcomes and experiences.

Eligibility
This role is only open to those who graduated from a Manchester Met undergraduate course in June 2025 and are not currently studying, nor have previously studied, on a postgraduate course.
Essential Qualifications
- Graduated with a BA degree in Summer 2025 from the School of English (including either the Department of English, Department of Languages, Information and Communications OR Manchester School of Theatre)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience organising events or workshops.
- Experience using digital tools for engagement and communication.
