We are looking for an enthusiastic Communications Coordinator (Social Media) ready to take on a challenging and rewarding permanent role. As a key member of the University's external communications team, you will play an important role in delivering engaging and effective social media activity that enhances Manchester Met's profile, reputation and connection with external audiences.

About the role

Working closely with colleagues across Communications and Engagement and the University's student content creators, you will support the planning, coordination and delivery of content across the University's social media channels. You will help ensure social media activity is well coordinated, high quality and aligned to the University's brand, tone of voice and strategic priorities.

  • Support the creation, editing, scheduling and publishing of content across platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, X, TikTok and Facebook.
  • Help to plan and manage content calendars, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of social media activity.
  • Play a key role in community management, monitoring comments and messages and responding or escalating as appropriate.
  • Coordinate content requests from across the University, ensuring clear briefs, timelines and approvals.
  • Monitor trends and developments in social media and identify opportunities to enhance engagement.
  • Contribute to campaigns and cross-team activity, providing social media coordination and support.

As a hybrid worker, you will be based at our All Saints Campus for part of the week, with flexibility to work remotely.

A creative, well-organised and detail-oriented communications professional with a passion for social media and digital engagement.

  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content for different audiences and platforms.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly when managing content.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence working with colleagues and engaging with online audiences.
  • Understanding of social media platforms and how they can be used to engage audiences effectively.
  • Experience creating or managing digital or social media content.
  • A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
