The School of English is seeking a proactive and organised Communications and Events Coordinator to support communications, outreach, and event delivery. This role is ideal for a recent School of English graduate with strong communication skills and a passion for engaging audiences through events and storytelling.
Background: The main purpose of this role is to support the School of English Employability team in developing, promoting and documenting the School's activities, enhancing its reputation, and supporting a vibrant programme of academic, student-facing, and public events.
- Develop and produce engaging content for digital and print channels, including newsletters, reviews and promotional materials.
- Draft communications to promote workshops, talks and events.
- Assist in the planning, organisation, and delivery of a range of events (e.g. professional talks, conferences, alumni events, student workshops).
- Coordinate event logistics including booking spaces, liaising with speakers, managing registrations, and preparing materials.
- Provide on-the-day event support, including setup, attendee coordination, and troubleshooting.
- Support hybrid and online event delivery using digital platforms.
- Help develop initiatives that enhance the student experience and foster community within the School.
- Capture and share event highlights through blogs and social media content.
- Collect feedback and evaluate event success.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve future activity.
- Gain hands-on experience in communications and event management within higher education.
- Develop skills in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and digital promotion.
