Expression of Interest – Secondment Opportunity 0.5 FTE Lecturer in School Nursing (Fixed term 1-year secondment, with potential to extend by mutual agreement) School of Nursing and Public Health, Faculty of Health and Education Manchester Metropolitan University is seeking expressions of interest from experienced School Nurses to join the School Nursing Team in the School of Nursing and Public Health on a 0.5 FTE secondment basis for a period of 1 year. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of the future workforce while maintaining strong links between practice and academia.

About the Role

The successful applicant will join the School Nursing team and play a key role in delivering the 1-year PgDip Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) Apprenticeship (School Nursing) programme. The role will include:

  • Delivering high quality evidence-informed teaching, supervision and assessment, to inspire students.
  • Supporting the integration of theory and practice within the apprenticeship programme.
  • Providing academic and pastoral support to students.
  • Contributing positively to the student experience and outcomes through your own practice and commitment to high-quality scholarship.
  • Working collaboratively with academic colleagues and practice learning partners.

The post offers an excellent development opportunity for those interested in education, leadership, and workforce development within school nursing. You will be supported by internal mentorship and staff development to enable you to succeed for the duration of your secondment.

Candidate Profile

We are particularly interested in individuals who can demonstrate:

  • Current registration as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nursing) (essential).
  • Recent and relevant experience in school nursing practice.
  • Enthusiasm for developing others and supporting student learning.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries.
  • Commitment to high-quality education and student experience.
  • Interest in teaching, curriculum development, or academic career pathways (experience desirable but not essential).
  • Organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
