About This Opportunity
This opportunity is only available to Manchester Met 2025 graduates who will be based in the UK for the duration of this role. Applicants must have graduated from an undergraduate course at Manchester Met in June 2025 and are not currently studying or have previously studied on a postgraduate course.
We are recruiting a Student Communications and Events Coordinator to join the Student Experience (Communications) and Training and Development teams in Doctoral Services.
Key Responsibilities
The role will support the flow of communications between the Doctoral College and doctoral students and supervisors, and deliver training and development events and social media content during the October 2026 welcome period.
- Collecting and drafting content for student bulletins and welcome emails using Granicus software.
- Planning and producing social media content for the Doctoral College's Instagram and X accounts to grow and engage the audience.
- Scheduling content for the Doctoral Research Blog.
- Producing welcome communications for new doctoral students enrolling in October 2026.
- Using Outlook to send regular email communications to students and supervisors.
- Supporting the Training and Development team in delivering in‑person welcome events.
Skills & Development
- Work alongside senior academic and professional services colleagues to understand communications needs and preferences of stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with the Research Degrees Officer (Student Experience) to produce a social media content plan for the upcoming welcome period and academic year.
- Work with the Development and Training Manager to support the administration and delivery of key welcome events.
- Create and gather content for main communications channels, including the Doctoral Student Digest and social media.
- Develop skills in communication, event organisation and content management, and become a confident communicator at varying levels of seniority.
Assessment Centre
- Opportunity to network with Hiring Managers to discuss their roles.

Ideal Candidate
- Essential: Interest in marketing, communications and/or social media; good problem‑solving skills; initiative and innovative thinking; ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships; excellent communication skills.
- Desirable: Some experience with social media; experience writing communications to diverse audiences across online channels such as email and social media.
