Programmes Manager – Manchester Jewish Museum
Location: Manchester, England, United Kingdom
Salary: ÂŁ25,500 to ÂŁ27,000. Deadline for applications: 19th November 2025, 9am.
As Programmes Manager, you’ll be responsible for delivery of the museum’s programming strategy, ensuring all programming related targets are connected to the museum’s engagement policy, as well as financial and audience development plans. This includes leading on and supporting the museum’s Creative Producers to design and deliver our school programme, community projects, live events, artist network, food activities, adult participatory programming and outreach activities.

Key Role Responsibilities
- Lead on the delivery of all programming related aims connected to our financial and engagement policies, ensuring programming supports our audience development objectives, such as connecting with local communities, sustaining a culturally engaged audience and engaging diverse Jewish audiences.
- Engage schools and adult education groups across the Northwest.
- Work with Marketing & Fundraising Manager to collect and interpret data to measure success via a CRM system and evaluation framework.
- Work with the museum’s curator to ensure Jewish stories from the collection sit at the heart of all aspects of our programme.
- Work with the Catering and Retail Operations Manager to support group visits, training and food‑based events and activities.
- Lead on the delivery of externally funded programming projects, ensuring objectives and targets are met.
- Support the CEO in the successful delivery of the wider programme and activity plans.
- Engage in training related to Safeguarding, Carbon Literacy Awareness, health and safety and inclusive programming.
- Lead the Creative Producers to deliver their projects and programming strands, aligning with audience development strategies.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure programming embodies the museum’s values.
- Attend performances, cultural events and networking events to stay up to date and identify opportunities.
- Build relationships with stakeholder groups and arts organisations, sharing best practice.
- Support the museum’s volunteer programme focused on schools and events.
- Manage all programming budgets, reporting on income and expenditure with the Finance Manager.
- Support fundraising and marketing strategy delivery, and report on progress to stakeholders.
General Responsibilities
- Facilitate activities and manage operational workload alongside strategic duties.
- Maintain all programming technical equipment (PA, AV, lighting).
- Manage licensing requirements.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Promote and deliver the museum’s vision and values.
- Work effectively within a small team, attending staff meetings and supporting colleagues.
- Act as Duty Manager on a rota basis, managing day‑to‑day operations and key holder duties.
- Regular weekend and evening working is expected.
Who We Are Looking For
An experienced programming professional with senior‑level partnership skills.
A minimum of 3 years’ programming experience in an arts or heritage setting, including:
- Delivery of a programming strategy
- Management of budgets
- Monitoring and evaluation
- Working with artists
- Facilitating events for diverse audiences
- Managing staff or volunteers
- Co‑creation and iterative processes such as Scratch
- Partnership working
- Supporting fundraising and marketing activity
- Use of AV equipment
- Completing risk assessments
- Using a CRM/Ticketing system
