About the role
We currently have an exciting number of opportunities for Teaching Assistant Level 1 to join our fantastic team at Manchester Enterprise Academy (MEA) in Wythenshawe. We have three permanent posts available working 30-35 hours per week, 8:30-16:10 or 08:30-15:10 (40 min break) Monday to Friday, term time only plus 5 INSET days. The starting salary is £18,281-£21,327 depending on hours and the full time equivalent is £24,796 Grade 2. Teaching Assistant is a rewarding role supporting students in a vibrant and inclusive secondary school environment.
Responsibilities
- Work under the direction of the classroom teachers and Headteachers to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and personal development.
- Support access to learning for individuals, small groups and occasionally on a 1:1 basis.
- Assist in the preparation of classroom resources and provide curricular administrative support.
- Support teachers in managing behaviour in class and around school.
- Provide feedback on pupil progress and maintain accurate records.
- Respond to pupils’ pastoral, social, health and welfare needs, including minor first aid.
- Help create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
You will play a key role in building positive relationships with students, encouraging independence, and promoting high expectations for all.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Support for Pupils
- Work with small groups under teacher supervision, including implementing Individual Learning Plans.
- Promote inclusion and equal access to learning.
- Encourage independence and positive behaviour.
- Attend to students’ personal and welfare needs.
- Support for Teachers
- Prepare classrooms and resources for lessons.
- Provide clerical and administrative support.
- Assist with behaviour management.
- Undertake pupil record keeping as required.
- Support for the School
- Uphold safeguarding, child protection, health and safety and data protection policies.
- Supervise pupils during classroom and outdoor activities.
- Contribute to the wider ethos and aims of the school.
- Participate in training and performance development.
You will work collaboratively with teaching staff, the Safeguarding and Pastoral teams, SENCO, SLT, governors and parents to promote pupil wellbeing and positive outcomes.
Qualifications
- Has experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age.
- Has a basic understanding of child development and learning.
- Holds Level 2 qualifications (or equivalent/higher) in English and Maths.
- Demonstrates excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
- Can build strong, professional relationships with students, staff and parents.
- Is committed to safeguarding, equality and inclusion.
- Works effectively as part of a team and shows a willingness to learn.
You should be empathetic, resilient and proactive, with a genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed.
