The central responsibility of this role is to deliver effective and reliable testing across DVSA digital services, supporting the delivery of high-quality, user-focused outcomes within Agile teams. Working within a delivery-focused Agile environment, and in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to the design and implementation of testing processes for a range of DVSA digital services. You will be responsible for delivering structured, cost-effective test activities to support the successful delivery of major initiatives. You will apply established testing methodologies, primarily testing techniques, to ensure services meet defined business needs and operate in accordance with government and industry quality standards. You will work closely with development teams to identify and capture test cases, support test environment readiness, and design and execute test plans across DVSA digital projects and products.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
- Contribute to test planning, estimation and traceability activities within Agile sprint teams, using appropriate tools to ensure effective and efficient test execution.
- Collaborate with developers, product owners and wider scrum teams to develop a strong understanding of requirements, risks and testing objectives.
- Design and implement structured test processes, including the creation and execution of test plans, test conditions and test scenarios that meet business requirements, user needs and quality standards.
- Support testing by leveraging testing tools to execute test scenarios, review results, and gain insights, collaborating with colleagues responsible for building the frameworks.
- Execute functional, integration, system and revalidation testing activities, ensuring testing remains relevant to business needs and product risk.
- Proactively prevent defects by working closely with development teams to build a shared understanding of requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Troubleshoot issues to support root cause identification and resolution, documenting, tracking and escalating defects as appropriate.
- Work effectively within fast-paced digital delivery environments, maintaining focus on quality, risk and user outcomes.
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:
- Understanding and experience of testing within a software delivery team.
- Familiarity with test tools and frameworks and the ability to apply them to design effective test scenarios and maximise the value of testing activities.
- Ability to quickly research and learn new tools and testing techniques to support quality assurance activities.
Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week. Regular travel to our Swansea office will be required, which may involve overnight stays. This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.
