As a Data Analyst in the Portfolio Planning and Performance Unit, you’ll be involved in analysing the performance of the many Product Delivery and Enabling Teams within GDS Digital Products. Your insights will allow GDS Digital Products to evaluate and evidence the value its products provide to users and government, and inform the senior leadership team to make informed, prioritised, evidence‑based decisions. You will also shape and analyse operational data captured by the Systems and Data Team’s bespoke in‑house business management tool, and support the ongoing development of this tool. You’ll be proactive and work effectively in a multidisciplinary agile team to help ensure data is accurate and significant, and then provide analysis and actionable insight through effective storytelling and data visualisation. You’ll help deliver analysis and reporting that is automated, reliable and secure and will be able to recommend ways to improve data efficiency and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with business management/operations teams across delivery teams.
  • Analyse both strategic and operational data to produce visualisations and insights about the performance and impact of activity.
  • Oversee operational data captured by the Systems and Data Team’s in‑house business management tool.
  • Be an advocate for developing analysis across the organisation and actively participate in a performance and data analysis community of practice.

Qualifications

  • Have proven ability and/or experience in conducting data analysis in an analyst role.
  • Have experience of providing and sharing analytical insight in a clear and concise manner to help stakeholders make informed, evidence‑based decisions.
  • Have strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Have experience with data modelling or automation of reporting processes and visualisation, using tools such as PowerBI or similar.
  • Have excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills – able to work effectively across teams and functions.
  • Are comfortable working both independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.

Office Attendance

The Department operates a discretionary hybrid working policy, which provides for a combination of working hours from your place of work and from your home in the UK. The current expectation for staff is to attend the office or non‑home based location for 40‑60% of the time over the accounting period.
