We’re looking for up to two Heads of Delivery, who are experts in making agile delivery work for services that includes people, processes, policy, and tech. You’ll be part of a Senior Leadership team with a Service Owner and other discipline leads. You’ll act as a servant leader, removing blockers and assuring the delivery for a wide range of teams. You’ll support Delivery Managers and Product Managers in strategic planning and end-to-end agile delivery.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have experience in leading user-centred, end-to-end service delivery that supports policy, operations, and technology. Experience working with the Government Service Standard is not required but would be helpful. You will also need to be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
As a Head of Delivery, you’ll:
- Manage and develop a large programme team, composed of Civil Servants and from third party suppliers, remove blockers and help all teams become high-performing.
- Collaborate and engage with a range of stakeholders, supporting and challenging your teams around delivery timelines and adherence to the Service Standard.
- Identify and help remove blockers and manage risks, commercial relationships, budgets, and people.
- Work with Service Owners and other heads of functions to promote effective cross-functional delivery and ensure dependencies are fully understood and managed appropriately.
- Take a leadership role in the MHCLG Delivery Manager community, helping mature the profession across the organisation and outside your programme.
- Line manage and coach Senior Delivery Managers and other related roles.
As a Head of Delivery, you’ll have:
- A strong record of leading agile, multidisciplinary teams to deliver end-to-end digital services that meet user needs and achieve strategic outcomes.
- Experience of leading and advocating for user-centred design and agile delivery.
- Strong interpersonal skills, be used to managing senior stakeholders, and accustomed to managing and initiating change.
- Experience of delivering through others and successfully line managing, coaching and mentoring individuals and agile teams.
- Familiarity with setting, monitoring, managing and reporting costs, budgets, plans, forecasts, progress, risks, benefits and programme KPIs.
- Experience of commercial, supplier and dependency management.
