This is a unique opportunity to join the Government Digital Service (GDS) and work on data.gov.uk, the UK’s central hub for open data. About The Role

As a Content Designer for data.gov.uk, you’ll shape how users find, understand and interact with public sector data. This is a hands‑on, user‑centred role where you’ll design and deliver clear, accessible content that supports a wide range of users, from policymakers to developers to the general public. You’ll be part of an agile, multidisciplinary team working to modernise data.gov.uk into a more reliable, accessible and user‑focused platform. Using research, insights and continuous feedback, you’ll help ensure content meets user needs while supporting wider government priorities around transparency, data reuse and innovation.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and deliver user‑centred content that is clear, accessible and easy to understand
  • Use data, analytics and user research to inform content decisions and improvements
  • Work across the full delivery lifecycle, from discovery through to live service and iteration
  • Collaborate closely with user researchers, designers, developers and product managers
  • Support end‑to‑end user journeys, ensuring content aligns with service outcomes
