Manchester Community Music School is a non-profit organization committed to the mission of "changing lives through the power of learning, sharing, and making music." Located in historic north Manchester, MCMS provides quality musical instruction, music therapy, and performance opportunities for people of all ages. The Music School is home to 50 of New England's finest music educators and music therapists and over 1,500 students and clients from across New Hampshire. As a cultural performance center, we offer programs in an environment that encourages participation, interaction, and enjoyment. We are dedicated to supporting the artistic development of the community through our programs, and our classes are open to all regardless of age, race, national origin, physical challenges, or ability to pay.

At present, Manchester Community Music School is seeking a motivated and student-centered Teacher of Voice to continue instruction for current and new students. This is an excellent opportunity for musicians with demonstrated teaching skills and experience seeking opportunities for growth, professional development, and community. Additional teaching opportunities may be available for candidates interested in developing and/or teaching group classes or ensembles. This part-time hourly position has a flexible schedule; however, most lessons are scheduled Monday-Friday during after-school hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach students according to current pedagogical standards, supporting their love and appreciation of music
  • Teach students of varying ages, from young children to adults, with diverse musical interests (classical, musical theater, contemporary, etc.)
  • Prepare students for performance opportunities
  • Hold two (2) studio recitals during the year
  • Complete attendance with registration software accurately in a timely manner
  • Maintain communication with students and/or caregivers
  • Attend faculty meetings as scheduled
  • Facilitate student participation in musical and community-building opportunities such as recitals, concerts, ensembles, and/or competitions
  • Attend students' events and performances

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in music
  • Expertise in voice performance and pedagogy or equivalent experience
  • Commitment to inclusion as pedagogical and professional values
  • In-person teaching availability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to students' individual needs and provide constructive feedback

Preferred:

  • Experience teaching in community music settings or public schools.
