Applicants must have existing right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

  • Legal right to Work: In accordance with Home Office guidance, successful candidates must evidence their right to work in the UK before commencement of employment.
  • Qualification – Must hold NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent or have three years experience and be willing to work towards NVQ Level 3.
  • Medical Clearance – Pre-placement health assessment (PPHA).
  • DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance – this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. We have a policy on the Employment of Ex-Offenders and it is available upon request.
  • Evidence of conduct in previous employment concerned with the provision of services relating to Health or social care or Children or vulnerable adults.
  • Proof of identity including a recent photograph.
  • Full Employment history.

The Disability Supported Accommodation Service (DSAS) is a citywide network of housing with support and respite services for adults aged 18+ with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs, individuals with a physical disability, adults whom are sensory impaired or have an acquired brain injury. This is a 24/7 provision and candidates will need to be willing to work on a rota to cover days, evenings and weekends.

The Service aims to make a positive difference to the lives of individuals with disabilities by offering person centred support and care, as well as quality housing, as we believe that every individual has the right to achieve their full potential, regardless of disability, and that disability should not exclude a person from society and a fuller community life.

Working as part of a dedicated team, you will provide support to disabled adults with their day to day needs, within their own home, which may be within a permanent supported living environment or the Short Breaks service. You will play an active part in the continuous development of Assistant Support Workers and Waking Night Support Workers through one on one mentoring and observations.

You will also assist in the provision of practical and emotional support to citizens that will promote independence and will assist and support other involved parties, to ensure positive outcomes for all customers.

Your role will include administering medication, assisting with all aspects of personal care and daily living including meal planning and preparation, accessing the local community for shopping and activities and support during medical appointments.

This post requires an NVQ Health & Social Care Level 3 (or equivalent), or be willing to work towards Level 3.
