  • Qualification: BSC (Hons) Occupational Therapy and registration with HCPC
  • Car Documentation: This post is a designated Essential Car User. Therefore, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work. You will receive the Essential Car User Allowance.
  • DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Clearance: This post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. We have a policy on the Employment of Ex-Offenders and it is available upon request.
  • Medical Clearance: Pre-placement health assessment (PPHA)

Role details:

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Occupational Therapist to work within our Integrated Neighbourhood Teams, helping Manchester residents live healthier, safer and more independent lives.

This is a great opportunity to work within an integrated team, using your Occupational Therapy expertise alongside Social Workers and Social Care Assessors to identify strengths, reduce barriers and achieve positive outcomes for people in Manchester.

You will undertake functional assessments, moving and handling assessments, recommend equipment and adaptations where appropriate, provide advice/guidance, support safeguarding, and champion prevention, reablement and rehabilitation.

You will help people remain in their own homes for longer, reduce reliance on formal care and prevent unnecessary hospital or residential admissions.

About the Candidate

  • You will be resilient, empathic, compassionate and motivated.
  • You must be organised and have excellent oral communication and written skills and be able to complete comprehensive reports in a timely and efficient manner.
  • We are looking for a critical and innovative thinker who can gather and analyse information, manage risk and maximise citizens' quality of life.
  • You should have experience of functional assessment, moving and handling, equipment, adaptations, and assistive technology and have an understanding of relevant social care and disability legislation.
  • You will maintain the standards set out by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Royal College of Occupational Therapy (RCOT)
  • We offer Monday - Friday working, with no working on bank holidays or weekends, and a 35 hour working week, supporting a positive work/life balance.
  • Your induction will be tailored to you so you can learn at your own pace.
