Role Overview

You will be part of the Address Management team within the Performance, Research and Intelligence (PRI) department, supporting the Council’s statutory Street Naming and Numbering function and working closely with local communities, developers and external partners such as Royal Mail and GeoPlace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep address records up to date in accordance with the national standard (BS7666).
  • Process new address applications, street naming requests and updates to existing records.
  • Provide support during consultations with residents, developers and other stakeholders on naming issues.
  • Notify external organisations (e.g., Royal Mail, Emergency Services) when addresses are created or amended.
  • Identify and correct any errors or inconsistencies within the address database.
  • Ensure compliance with the Council’s Street Naming and Numbering policy, National Data Entry Conventions and relevant legislation.
  • Assist in updating local procedures and best‑practice guidance.

Technical Skills

  • Understand key rules and guidance for street naming and numbering.
  • Maintain address data using address management systems, following correct entry procedures.
  • Use basic software tools to create and update address records.
  • Have a general awareness of maps and geographic location data.
