Overview
We’re bringing mutual savings, mortgages and financial advice for all back to the Greater Manchester region. Following our merger with Manchester Building Society in 2023, we returned to the high street in September 2025, with our flagship King Street branch.
Responsibilities
Within this role, you will support the Branch Manager in the day‑to‑day running of our city centre branch, encouraging and coaching colleagues and often acting as a deputy when required. You will manage the branch to achieve business results by establishing and building long‑term relationships with customers whilst providing a friendly and professional service. You will take personal ownership in applying the Branch ‘understanding needs process’, suggesting options that customers may consider and qualifying leads for the relevant advice specialists.
You will have opportunities to have a positive impact across Greater Manchester through attendance at charity and networking events, leadership of pop‑up activity across the city region and supporting communities through delivering talks on financial education topics.
Qualifications
As a credible people leader, you should have first‑class communication skills and a natural ability to motivate and lead from the front. Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills are essential to maintain the highest levels of customer satisfaction and advocacy. Experience in a customer‑facing management role and ability to achieve organisational KPIs will set you apart. Branch‑based banking leadership experience is advantageous but not mandatory; we consider candidates with strong leadership experience in customer‑facing environments.
You are a proven leader with further career aspirations, looking to progress to a potential Branch Manager role within a growing purpose‑led organisation.
Benefits
In return, you will receive a competitive annual salary based on above‑market pay scales and a reward package that includes:
- 35‑hour weekly contract
- 25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays (increasing with length of service)
- Annual bonus scheme – on target 5%, up to 10% depending on performance
- Colleague mortgage scheme and access to our financial advisors
- Pension scheme – up to 9% employer contribution
- Life assurance (4x salary) and income protection
- Wellbeing benefits, including medicash scheme
- Electric car salary sacrifice scheme
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Above statutory family leave entitlement – 3 months full pay, 3 months half pay regardless of gender or route to parenthood
- Extra day’s holiday for your birthday
- Option to buy and sell holidays
- Two paid volunteering days each year
- Broad range of learning and development opportunities
- High‑street and online discounts
- Discounted/subsidised gym memberships nationwide
- Recognition initiatives to reward great performance
