About The Role:

Senior Security Event Manager – Conventions

Location: Birmingham (ICC, Vox & NEC Campus)

Are you an experienced security leader with a passion for delivering exceptional events? We’re looking for a Senior Security Event Manager to lead our Conventions Security Event Management team, ensuring the safe, secure and seamless delivery of conferences, exhibitions and live events across the ICC, Vox and wider NEC Group venues. This is an exciting opportunity to combine operational leadership, people management and strategic planning in one of the UK’s most diverse events environments.

Reporting to the Senior Security Manager – Conventions, you'll lead and develop a team of Security Event Managers, overseeing the planning and delivery of security operations for a wide range of prestigious events. You'll work closely with clients, event management teams, operational departments and emergency services to ensure every event is delivered safely, professionally and to the highest standard.

Alongside managing your own portfolio of events, you'll drive continuous improvement, support workforce planning and play a key role in developing the future of the security operation. You'll also act as Deputy to the Senior Security Manager when required.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of Security Event Managers
  • Planning and delivering security operations for high-profile conventions and events
  • Overseeing event planning documentation including forecasts, costings, security risk assessments and operational plans
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, clients and external partners including emergency services
  • Driving operational excellence, innovation and continuous improvement
  • Supporting recruitment, workforce planning and the development of the casual workforce
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety and compliance
  • Ensuring exceptional customer service throughout every event
  • Supporting the wider City Infrastructure security operation when required

We’re looking for someone with:

Essential

  • Experience managing security operations within events or venues
  • Previous people management or leadership experience
  • Strong event planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience building strong client relationships
  • SIA Door Supervisor Licence
  • SIA CCTV Licence
  • First Aid at Work qualification

Desirable

  • Level 4 Spectator Safety qualification (or willingness to achieve)
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH qualification (or willingness to achieve)
  • Diploma or Certificate in Security Risk Management or a related discipline
