About The Role:

Shift Pattern: 5 in 7, 1 in 3 weekends

Please note: This is a 6 month fixed term contract with the potential to go permanent

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Multi‑Skilled Engineer to join our facilities team at the Birmingham SEA LIFE Centre. This is a hands‑on role responsible for maintaining a wide range of engineering systems across the site, ensuring the attraction operates safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards for both guest‑facing exhibits and back‑of‑house operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across a variety of engineering systems.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, faults, and reactive maintenance issues.
  • Undertake repairs, installations, and minor project works within your skillset.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of new equipment and exhibits.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety legislation, company procedures, and industry standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider Facilities, Technical, and Operations teams to support site performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, inspections undertaken, and materials used.
  • Participate in a shift rota, including weekends and occasional out‑of‑hours or emergency call‑outs.

Requirements

  • A recognised technical qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) in an engineering discipline such as Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, or similar.
  • Proven experience working in a commercial, industrial, or facilities environment is desirable.
  • Ability to carry out fault‑finding, diagnostics, and repairs across multiple systems.
  • A strong understanding of health and safety best practice.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
  • Good communication, organisation, and time‑management skills.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a leisure, hospitality, or visitor attraction environment.
  • Multi‑disciplinary engineering experience (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, fabric).
  • Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) or control systems.
